I feel like it’s been a while since we’ve seen Ryan Gosling in a big movie, but we are glad to see he is back in Blue Valentine, which opened Wednesday in theaters. Also staring Michelle Williams, this love story tells of a man and woman who were once in love but are now falling out of love. Mom is the serious one who works at a hospital with the hopes of becoming a doctor. Dad is the fun one, a man of many talents, who has a tough time committing to anything, besides his family. The movie seems to have a sense of familiarity that anyone could relate too, and almost looks really heartbreaking. This may be a good one to go see with your girls.

So you’ve already picked out the dress, the shoes, you have your whole night planned, all that’s missing to top off your New Year’s Eve look is makeup. As a diva, you know it’s all about looking good from head to toe and New Year’s Eve only comes once a year, so obviously we have to be dressed up to the nines. And, with the hopes of being kissed when the clock strikes twelve, it’s also the one time of year that taking an extra minute or two on your makeup is definitely called for.

So to help you get the perfect look, here are some of our favorite makeup looks that will complete your nighttime look.

Go all out with bright make up. Rihanna’s lips are a five-alarmer! Love how she dresses up a simple black dress with a fire-engine red pout and electric blue liner. Be bold—go bright!

You can never go wrong with a smoky eye. Balance dark, smoky eyes with pale pink lipstick and glowy cheeks. To get that shimmery, ethereal look, apply a highlighter to your cheekbones. This is a look that’ll go with both your kick butt leather jacket and a pretty party dress.

Ruby red lips are a staple for a glamorous night on the town, but we’re adding raspberry lipstick—like Alexis Bledel’s—to our must-have nighttime makeup list.
