Best Dressed 2011 SAG Awards

The Red Carpet at last night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards was full of show stopping moments. It was so hard to pick a best dressed and even harder to pick a worst. There are always bad fashion moments, but this year the fabulous fashion gets all the attention. Patterns, prints and bright colors were everywhere and we loved every moment of it!

Here are our top three best dressed actresses of the night, Mila Kunis was our favorite in Alexander McQeen, while Claire Danes set the bar high in a floral Louis Vitton and Hailee Steinfield rocked it in an immaculate, floor-length striped Prada gown.

And we can’t forget about the guys! The Office star John Krasinski showed of his sense of style in a head-to-toe midnight blue Prada Suit, while James Franco and Josh Duhamel looked absolutely dashing as always.

Quick Tip: Dressing for Petite Women

So we’ve covered curvy and tall, now it’s time to give some fashion tips to our petite divas! To help you appear longer and leaner, sometimes less is more.

First, wear clothing that fits you well. Fitted or semi-fitted clothing looks better on petites than loose-fitting apparel. Avoid garments that have a lot of design ease because all that extra fabric adds bulk and can make short women look heavier than they really are. Also, choosing low necklines and v-neck jackets and tops will aid in creating the illusion of height. Like 5’2” Rachel Bilson, whose banded mini dress and high-heels help make her fame look a lot longer.

Try your best to avoid bulky over-sized handbags. I know! We all love them and they hold everything, sometimes they are just so big that they can seem to overwhelm short women. Select purses of medium size instead so that your bag will be in proportion to your smaller frame.

Lastly, Tops shouldn’t cover your rear. Cropped jackets are perfect for petite women because they give the illusion of length, especially when paired with the same color slacks or a slim skirt.

There is nothing wrong with being petite; we love our small divas too! Dressing smart can make you appear taller if that’s what you’re after. By paying a little extra attention to your wardrobe choices and standing straight and proud, you’ll get as much notice as the taller woman next to you.

Movie Moment: From Prada to Nada

Opening this weekend in theaters is From Prada to Nada starring Camilla Belle. It’s a Latina spin on Jane Austen’s “Sense and Sensibility,” where two spoiled sisters who have been left penniless after their father’s sudden death are forced to move in with their estranged aunt in East Los Angeles. Talk about a change of scenery! Ok, so there may not be Oscar buzz surrounding this one, but it looks entertaining and could provide some hard learned lessons. Plus, we love Camilla, she always has such great style so I guess we could support her in this one.
