Myth Monday: Rinsing hair with beer will make it thicker

Bizarre, yes but its true! I couldn’t believe this when I heard it but a final rinse of beer at the end of your shower will leave you with more voluminous strands. Supposedly, the beer builds up the circumference of the hair shafts giving it more lift. It can also leave hair softer, shiny and possibly help it grow. One caveat: You may smell like a frat house until the scent dissipates. Instead, try a thickening shampoo with hops, like Aussie Real Volume Shampoo ($4). I think I’ll stick with the shampoo!

Question— Do I wash my hair with beer after i wash it with shampoo and conditioner?

I would try if I wanted thicker hair, but I have a lot and try to keep it flat. I also hear the beers color is helpful to blondes, but I’m raven-haired.

Wow, that’s cool. I wonder if non alcoholic beer or a girly beer would work the same. hmmm…
