Holiday Hair Trends

Color

When it comes to hair, it’s always nice to mix it up as the seasons change. Brittany Snow went from beachy blonde to a warm auburn shade. We are daring to try this fun and fierce shade this season because it works well on most skin tones. If you want to test the color out first before making a permanent decision, try a semi-permanent dye in a an a light auburn shade. By choosing a semi-permanent you cause less damage to your hair, and the color washes out after 20-30 shampoos. If you want to darken up for the winter, go with a natural look like Lauren Conrad. She chose a chocolate brown color, but kept a few light pieces for a naturally highlighted feel.

Style

Now that we discussed some hot winter colors, lets talk style. Whether you have short, medium or long hair you can create a nice wavy texture. This look is great if your looking to add volume. Use a bigger size curling barrel to create a natural looking big curl. For a festive touch, add a feathered fascinator which you can find at Dots for under $20!!

Halloween Inspirations

What is your favorite thing about the halloween season? Is it the pumpkin coffee and apple cider? Pumpkin carving/ decorating? Or maybe it’s the famous candy apple?

I personally love all of these so I found some fun and creative ways to mix it up this year.

1. The first is an apple cider float! Yum! People have described this as better than a milkshake or float     combined!

Shopping List (from the Everyday with Rachael Ray Staff)
2 cups apple cider
1 cinnamon stick
1 cup vanilla ice cream
1 tbsp. caramel sauce
1 pinch of nutmeg

2. The second idea are small glittered pumpkins. Carving is the classic way to decorate which is always great, but these little miniature glittered pumpkins are festive and girly!

Tools and Materials

  • Small pumpkins
  • Medium-sized paintbrush
  • Similar glitter in Garnet, Tourmaline, and Bronze, $4.99, by Martha Stewart Crafts
  • White glue, by Martha Stewart Crafts
  • Paper plate or newspaper
  • Brown acrylic paint

3.  The third idea is a twist on the classic looking candy apple. Make your own and spice them up with halloween inspired decorations! Get the step by step process at OneCharmingParty.com
